“Proposed Ludington Avenue Lane Reconfiguration”
The City of Ludington (City) recently met with representatives of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to further discuss the concept of re-configuring the number of lanes on Ludington Avenue between Jackson Road and William Street from four and five lanes to three lanes on a trial basis in order to improve vehicular and pedestrian safety. Over the next 4-6 weeks, MDOT plans to compile additional information and prepare drawings in order to show the public how such a lane reconfiguration would look and the impacts of such a lane reconfiguration.
In order to avoid the holidays, MDOT and the City will work on scheduling a public meeting on this issue tentatively during the week of January 8, 2018 in the downstairs Community Room at the Ludington City Hall in order to obtain the public’s input before making any decision on this issue. In late November or early December, MDOT and the City will send out an official meeting notice and include documents to explain this issue in more detail. At the public meeting, MDOT and the City will present findings and answer questions.
