Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Program

The Ludington Police Department is currently undergoing an accreditation process under the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Program.  This program consists of compliance with 108 professional standards created by the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MLEAC).   These standards reflect contemporary law enforcement best practices and policies specific to Michigan law enforcement organizations.  The LPD is conducting a thorough self-analysis to determine which of our existing operations already meet some of these standards and professional objectives and make improvements where needed.  The overall goal is to improve our department's overall performance and professionalism by having written directives, policies, and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective.  We are hoping to become a MLEAC accredited agency some time in early 2022.
